All dark and mysterious

This moth was on the old radiator on the wall in the bathroom. It sort of glowered there in a Gordon Brownish sort of way, though in fact the colour is more dark gun metal grey. The hood is distinctive and with a bit of effort I should be able to put a name to this one in due course (but see below, re time at my disposal at the moment).

This moth is either new or in a variation of colouration. Like so many it is small, less than 1cm long and in the unnatural light there is so much uncertainty. Also the resources available on these very small moths are scarce and inadequate. Indeed as far as I can determine most of them don't actually have common names. I've been very, very lax in recent weeks with trying to name the things I'm photographing and posting. I have to warn now that I probably won't get any better now until after the school holidays are over.
