This is an enormous crane fly photographed in the bathroom during the course of the past fortnight. One crane fly looks more or less like another - to me, except that some are bigger than others. Amazingly elegant and I'm quite pleased with the photo even if I did cut a couple of feet off ...
It is now quite dark still at that time of day, and also getting quite chilly thanks to the clear skies in these parts. The moth activity has been quite restricted, but the peak period for moths and butterflies is drawing to a close as the days draw in. Plenty of underwings, but that has been about it.
This moth was resting and almost well camoflagued at that against a neighbors fence. It looks, though, like it came off the worse in a candy floss fight...
This is just a catch up post, which I initially posted a couple of days ago but couldn't load photos into. This last one is the ubiquitous underwing, at rest in the lounge one evening. Guess it liked whatever as on tele, though I can't imagine what it might have been.
